Madeira - The gorgeous floating green paradise Madeira is absolutely gorgeous, a floating paradise. We were lucky to be there when the Madeira Carnival was on. Lots of fun on the streets. The friendliest crowds. Good food and drink. We didn't see any trouble - nor did we hear about any. In other words, the people knew how to have tons of good, clean fun without spoiling it for anyone. People dressed in all the colours imaginable. Sweet music accompanied the wonderful carnival "floats." We had a fantastic street party to enjoy - and to remember forever. Some say that Madeira is for the mature crowd. If you know how to have a fantastic vacation without getting drunk like an idiot, age doesn't have anything to do with it! Like us, there were many other young families there and it seemed everyone was having the time of their life - there is enough scenery and sea and sights to keep you occupied for a week or two. If you want a mindless party type atmosphere, Madeira is not for you. |
